Challenge

Centrica required expert guidance when they were starting out on their Azure journey. Servent were recommended by Microsoft to provide support and expertise across their multi-year cloud programme. Centrica were in a position where they recognised the benefits of public cloud and pinpointed Azure as the target platform to leverage.

The rationale behind the move to Azure was to provide the organisation with both increased agility and having the ability to move at speed. Centrica also aspired to use Azure to be closer to the leading-edge technologies and services which the platform has to offer. Beginning to leverage Azure also introduced more opportunity to build new and innovative solutions leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Azure to help transform how they interact with their customers.

Outcomes

Servent worked with Centrica to design and deploy the foundational services underpinning their Azure platform usage with security built-in, by design. Our involvement was centred around ensuring that when workloads were migrated to Azure or services on the platform used that this would be done in a safe and secure manner with the appropriate foundational security controls and guard rails in place.

This allowed all areas of the business to start using the Azure platform to build innovative services and solutions which in turn would help enhance their digital capability and, more importantly, improve customer experiences. Alongside the technical aspects of delivery we also helped ensure that cost optimisation and sustainability were constantly being considered throughout our engagement.
